The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia continues official visit to Romania. Within the framework of the visit the delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs headed by Mr. Besik Amiranashvili, the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and Mr. Shalva Khutsishvili, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs held official meetings in Bucharest.
The Georgian delegation visited Romanian Border Police General Inspectorate. The leaders of the Border Police made a presentation for the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reflecting the activities of the agency and introduced the border electronic management center.
At the meetings the border control systems existing in Georgia and Romania were discussed; the parties emphasized the importance of strengthening and modernization of border capacities; discussed the joint future plans for fight against illegal migration and agreed on sharing experience and further deepening of the existing successful cooperation between the agencies.
Also, the Georgian delegation visited “A.I. CUZA” Police Academy in Bucharest. Dr. TORJE DANIEL-COSTEL, the leader of the Academy provided the guests with detailed information about Romania's Police Academy. For his part, Mr. Shalva Khutsishvili, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs talked about the capacity building of the Academy of the MIA and the plans related to transformation of the Academy into the regional educational center. The parties discussed the issues of future cooperation between the agencies.
The representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia held meetings in the International Police Cooperation Centre. The Georgian delegation got acquainted with the specifics of the activities of Romanian Europol and Interpol. At the meeting against the background of the global challenges the parties focused on the importance of deepening the international police cooperation and agreed on further development of the relations.
