On January 26 delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia started the official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vaakhtang Gomelauri. Delegation is comprised of the Director of MIA Emergency Situations Management Department, Ziat Katsashvili, his deputy Levan Buiglishvili and other officials from the same Department.
Within the frames of the visit delegation visited the grave of Heidar Alyes- spiritual leader of Azerbaijan and eternal fire venue at Shekhidov lane and laid wreaths in commemoration. Afterwards Georgian delegation held meetings at the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan with first Deputy Minister, General-Lieutenant rafail Mirzoyev, and Minister Deputy Paik Tagi-zade. During the meeting sides discussed future plans and activities in order to strengthen the existing cooperation between the agencies. On the same day Georgian delegation visited crises management center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and got familiarized with principles of operation. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia also visited command staff of civil protection and Special Risks Rescue Service of the Ministry.
Delegation also visited state fire-rescue service unit, viewed special rescue equipment and received comprehensive information on principles of operation.
By the end of the day delegation visited Jeiranbatini water reservoir and got acquainted with management as well as recent activities.
“Agreement between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan on cooperation in the area of prevention, limitation and mitigation of emergency consequences” had been signed in August of the past year. aim of the present visit is to plan the future joint activation with Azerbaijani colleagues.
Official visit to Azerbaijan ends on January 29.
