Working meeting was held on the issues of children working and living in street with the initiative of the Human Rights Department, the Patrol Police Department and the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The representatives of the Public Defender's Office, Ministry of Justice, Ministry Labor, Health and Social Affairs, Ministry of Education and Science, NGOs and international organizations attended the meeting.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs made a presentation on the situation regarding children living and working in streets, it focused on practical and legislative shortcomings that impede the implementation of effective measures against the life and work of teenagers in the street. Representatives of the Ministry introduced the vision of the Ministry on the solution and elimination of problems in this direction.
In the nearest future, the Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to initiate legislative amendments, strengthen prevention campaigns, elaborate detail instructions on the procedures for police officers cooperating with the children living and working in streets and their retraining, as well as organizing multidisciplinary cooperation of the agencies working on these problems, which will help to prevent the life and work of children in the street.
