On March 24, this year Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia launched an investigation on the fact of violence by a group of persons against Jelal Kikava and A.D., the civilians – the crime envisaged by the subparagraph “b” of the 11 part of the article 126, the Criminal Code of Georgia. The investigation was based on the report of Jelal Kikava.
According to the investigation, on March 24, this year, several people attacked and physically assaulted Jelal Kikava, M.B and A.D in the vicinity of the airport, Batumi. According to forensic expertise, Jelal Kikava and M.B have suffered minor injuries and D.S - less severe injury.
In the course of investigation, the witnesses of the incident were interviewed. The study of records from external surveillance cameras revealed the route of fleeing of attackers from the scene.
As a result of intensive operative-investigative actions the law enforcers revealed and accused three individuals participated in the incident: M.V – D.o.B.: 1990; Z.K – D.o.B.: 1984 and T.K – D.o.B.: 1994. All three are sportsmen. These individuals are recorded by the surveillance cameras.
During the interrogation M.V, Z.K and T.K admitted the fact of beating of Jelal Kikava and his accompanying persons and indicated that the reason of the incident was the invectives expressed by Jelal Kikava against athletes.
Within the scope of investigation, Jelal Kikava was summoned to the police, but he refused to recognize the persons detected.
M.V and Z.K are charged with the fact of violence against two or more persons committed by a group, the crime envisaged by the subparagraphs “b” and “c” of the 11 part of the article 126, the Criminal Code of Georgia. The crime committed by them envisages up to 2 years of imprisonment. T.K is accused of intentional less grave bodily injury, the crime envisaged by the 1st part of the article 118 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, entailing from 1 to 3 years of imprisonment.
