At the Ministry of Internal Affairs meeting was held with a British Expert on Drug-related issues - Masood Geoffrey (Geoff) Amir. Expert visit is conducted within the EU-funded project “More for More” and with the help and organization of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Representatives of Patrol Police Department, Central Criminal Police Department, Tbilisi Police Department, LEPL MIA Academy and SSA – Border Police of Georgia, as well as the representatives of the International organization for Migration (IOM) attended the meeting.
At the meeting, expert was familiarized with basic functions, activities and future plans of the abovementioned units of the Ministry. Moreover, personal interviews were held with the representatives of mentioned units in order for the expert to gain some insight on the investigation of drug-related crimes, fighting mechanisms against drug transit and other relevant issues.
As a result of the visit, expert will compile a gaps assessment report and follow up curriculum for the MIA Academy on illicit trafficking of drugs.
