Within the scope of EU funded Project - "EU4 Security, Accountability and Fight against Crime in Georgia (SAFE) - Integrated Border Management (SAFE IBM)", International Organization of Migration (IOM) has conducted training on the subject of document fraud detection and verification for the employees of Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Revenue Service.
The training was conducted by international Expert - Alex van Duuren. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Director of Patrol Police Department - Mr. Guram Davitashvili, Deputy Director of Customs Department of Revenue Service - Mr. Irakli Tevdoradze, Senior Manager of Border Management Programs of IOM - Mr. Massimo Ramanzin and a representative of EU Delegation in Georgia - Mrs. Colombe de Mercey.
Throughout the training, the participants discussed relevant issues including: new methods of security and falsification of documents, digital printing technique, profiling, protective symbols, etc.
Upon completion, participants of the event were awarded with certificates.
The aforementioned project is conducted with close cooperation of International Relations Department of MIA since 2019. The goal of the project is strengthening the capabilities of Georgian Authorities in the areas of Border and Migration management, in accordance with an Action Plan of Visa Liberalization Agreement drawn between EU and Georgia.
