Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs participated in an inter-agency training on financial crimes. The training was implemented in the framework of the project "Training and Operational Partnership Against Organized Crime (TOPCOP).
Mamuka Chelidze - Director of Central Criminal Police Department delivered the opening remaks. He thanked the EU Delegations for support and proactive cooperation.
Representatives of the Ministry of Finance, State Security Sevrice and Prosecutor General's Office also attended the training.
Experts selected by the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) led the training course. EU delegation representatives also attended the event.
The experts discussed, issues such as: seizure of illegal income; magament and seizure of illegally acquired assets; seeking and seizure of illegally acquired property; experience of EU member states on fight against financial crime etc.
The project has been implemented in close cooperation with the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 2020 and will continue until 2024. The project aims to strengthen strategic and operational partnership among law enforcement agencies, Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine), EU Member States and relevant EU agencies, as well as to enhance the capacity of relevant law enforcement agencies and strengthen the regional network to fight international organized crime.
