A Training on Serious and Organized Crime Threat Assessment (SOCTA) was held for the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the support of the EU-funded project on “Technical Assistance to Support Fight against Organized Crime”.
The purpose of the training was to further deepen existing cooperation with Europol and develop analytical capacities of the MIA employees to strengthen the fight against organized crime.
The representatives of the Central Criminal Police Department Information-Analytical Department, Patrol Police Department and Tbilisi Police Department attended the training and a British expert led it. The training was held in close cooperation with the International Relations Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The project has been running since 2018 and will be completed in 2021. The project aims to support the MIA in combating organized crime. The main directions of the project are: enhancing international law enforcement cooperation, strengthening capabilities of the Interagency Coordinating Council for Combating Organized Crime, strengthening analytical capacities of the MIA, implementing human-rights oriented approaches in the fight against organized crime, combating cybercrime, raising public awareness on the threats of organized crime, etc.
