The Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs would like to inform citizens that during the preparation period for the events dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia and on May 26, the traffic movement in the capital will be partially restricted.
On May 23, from 24:00, traffic will be completely restricted on Freedom Square and Rustaveli Avenue, up to the First Republic Square. Also, traffic will be restricted on all streets joining Rustaveli Avenue.
On May 25, from 24:00, the First Republic Square will be completely closed.
Vehicles will be able to move through Baratashvili and Tabukashvili streets in the direction of Merab Kostava and Sanapiro streets.
Traffic movement from Mtatsminda will be allowed through Asatiani Street in the direction of Gorgasali Square. Also, on Kote Abkhazi Street (former Leselidze Street) the traffic will be able to continue movement through Silver Street in the direction of Baratashvili Street.
Traffic is also prohibited on the ramp on Baratashvili Street from the right bank of River Mtkvari. Vehicles will be able to move in the direction of Vakhtang Gorgasali Street. Vehicles from Baratashvili downhill, after crossing Baratashvili Bridge, will move only on the ramp near the House of Justice, in the direction of the right bank.
Vehicles moving in the direction of Mtatsminda will move on Petre Melikishvili Street, Simon Janashia, Ivane Tarkhnishvili and Tamar Chovelidze streets, from where they will continue movement in the direction of Chonkadze Street.
Herewith, the next stream from Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue will be able to continue the traffic movement, passing through Petre Melikishvili and Merab Kostava streets, in the direction of the coast.
The officers of the Patrol Police Department will regulate the flow of vehicles to ensure traffic safety and avoid delays. If necessary, patrol inspectors will also provide drivers with information on alternative routes.
From May 27, after the dismantling of the scenery for the event, the restrictions will be completely removed and the traffic flow restored.
