Protection of human rights is the major priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Each reform implemented at the Ministry of Internal Affairs is aimed at providing better service. Fight against violence towards women and domestic violence is included in MIA development strategy among top priorities. Various activities are held in this direction with the assistance of non-governmental and international organizations and in parallel with trainings that are held for the law enforcers on the regular basis in order to boost qualification. MIA representatives are actively involved in the process of elaborating legislative changes. Within the frames of inter-agency board work meetings are held. It’s worth mentioning that open discussions are conducted countrywide under the initiative of the Ministry with the involvement of all relevant agencies, competent in making response to domestic violence.
Ministry of Internal Affairs announces the fight against violence and domestic violence as its top priorities and expresses readiness to work in this direction with all available recourses and with support of the society. In order to fight more effectively with the mentioned problem special group was formed at the Ministry of Internal Affairs that will monitor each similar fact and analyze the adequacy of the response to such offences. In order to reveal the current defects and to make coordinated reaction on them the meetings will be held with representatives of non-governmental and international organizations profiled in women’s rights. We realize that efforts made by the state agencies towards such a sensitive and problematic issue, are not enough, thus support from the civil sector and conducting of social campaigns on gender and domestic violence more intensively is very important.
Ministry of Internal Affairs reiterates its readiness to intensify and widen co-operation with local non-governmental and international organizations. Ministry of Internal Affairs would also like to call on citizens to be discreet and report on cases of domestic violence to the hot line -112 while in case of inadequate reaction to such notifications from the side of the law enforcers, citizens should call on the hot line of MIA General Inspection-126.
