On January 20 of the current year, the Public Safety Command Center 112 received a report regarding a mentally ill citizen on Komakhidze Street in Batumi.
Based on the notification, employees of Adjara Police Main Division of Patrol Police Department arrived at the scene, which was followed by an unexpected attack from mentally unstable citizen- G.N. (DoB 1998) with a knife. During the process of disarming the attacker, G.N. injured three patrol inspectors in different parts of the body with a knife.
Law enforcement officers arrested G.N. on the spot as an accused person. The injured patrol-inspectors were taken to the hospital, where they received appropriate medical care. All three of them remain in the medical facility.
The attack on the police is being investigated under Article 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
