In Oni municipality, 11 bodies of people were found by firemen and rescuers of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs within the frames of the ongoing search and rescue event.
400 fire-rescuers of Emergency Situations Management Service, police units, drones, special equipment and Border Police helicopters are involved in the search and rescue activities. In addition to the mentioned, the K-9 unit of the same service is involved in the operation.
The rescue operation is being led on the spot by the Deputy Ministers of internal affairs: Ioseb Chelidze, Giorgi Butkhuzi as well as by the head of the Emergency Situations Management Service - Temur Mghebrishvili.
Two helicopters of the border police resumed their work this morning, thanks to which citizens stuck in the disaster zone were airlifted to a safe area.
