Due to the high interest from the society, Ministry of Internal Affairs would like to inform public regarding the ongoing investigation, concerning the so called “Blue Whale” game.
On May 30, Division against the Fight with Cybercrime under the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched investigation on the fact of bringing to the point of suicide and Creation, Use or Circulation of Computer Damaging Program, defined by articles 115 and 285 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
In the course of the investigation, police studied all short text messages concerning the possible enrolment of school pupils in the gameplay under the name-"Blue Whale". Herewith, the Office of Resource Officers of Educational Institutions has been given instruction according to which representatives of the mentioned office have to report police in case if noticing body or face injuries, including scratches on any pupil.
Based on the received reports, dozens of juveniles were interrogated. In order to conduct in-depth and thorough investigation, law enforcers also applied for the assistance of qualified psychologists aside from interrogating the juveniles. Personal pages, computer technic and mobile phones of juveniles have also been thoroughly studied. Besides the mentioned, in the course of the ongoing investigation a number of complex investigative activities were carried out.
We would like to state with full responsibility, that according to the existing investigation files, the fact of existence of the “Blue Whale” game in the Georgian internet space has not been confirmed.
