Within the frames of the 100th Anniversary of Georgia's Independence Campaign by the organization of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs the National Parliamentary Library hosted an event dedicated to the referendum of March 31, 1991 on the independence of the country.
The meeting was opened by the welcoming speech of Mr. Ivane Papiashvili, the Pro-rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The participants of the event - historians, scientists, academics and students – were involved in the discussion on the topic: how did the Georgian nation fight for independence and how the country came to March 31, 1991 when the Georgian National Government held a referendum on the restoration of state independence.
The representatives of the Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs handed the guests the magazine "Anti-Soviet Organizations in Georgia", which describes the struggle for independence of the country since 1921.
