Human Rights Protection and Investigation Quality Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs presented 6-month report regarding the the work carried out by the Department to the representatives of various government agencies, as well as to non-governmental and international organizations at an online meeting. The event was opened by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Nino Tsatsiashvili.
Representatives of the Department familiarized participants of the online meeting regarding activities implemented by the Department in the first half of 2020 with regard to the following issues: violence against women and the domestic violence, the fight against discrimination, crimes committed by and against juveniles, trafficking, crimes directed against life and health. In addition to the mentioned, special emphasis was made on the establishment of the Main Division for Juvenile Affairs within the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the importance of capacity building of the mentioned unit.
Within the frames of the presentation, employees of the department have also provided online meeting participants with information regarding the work carried out by the Witness and Victim Coordinator Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and outlined the importance of enhancing its capacities in the future.
At the end of the event, representatives of the department discussed the issue of future plans, after which a discussion was held. During the discussion, participants of the online meeting were given the opportunity to ask questions and get answers to the topical issues.
The Department actively continues to work and cooperate with government agencies, international and non-governmental organizations, both to increase the quality of investigation and ensure protection of human rights.
