As a result of operative-investigative measures and investigative activities, the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Kakheti and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regions - 3 people were detained.
The officers of Sagarejo Police Division of Kakheti Police Department detained T.J. (DoB 1990) in the village of Lambalo, Sagarejo Municipality, on charges of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms. Police seized an unregistered automatic firearm and two magazines as evidence during a search of the vehicle operated by the detainee.
The officers of Sighnaghi Police Division of the same department arrested D.L. (DoB 1962) for illegal purchase and storage of firearms. During the search of the accused's house, the law enforcers seized 2 “Nagan” pistols and automatic firearm as evidence.
The officers of Zugdidi District Division of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department detained R.B. (DoB 1941), on charges of illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. During the search of the detainee's house, the police seized automatic weapon, a pistol, magazine and 30 cartridges for various types of firearms.
The committed crime envisions from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment.
Investigation on the fact of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is underway under the Article 236, III and IV parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
