The employees of the Central Criminal Police, Patrol Police, Tbilisi, Adjara, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Guria, Kakheti and Imereti Police Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with the General Prosecutor's Office, as a result of recent held operational measures and investigative actions, arrested 27 people on charges of drug crimes, including 15 drug dealers.
Among the arrested are both Georgian and foreign citizens.
Various types of large and particularly large amounts of narcotic drugs were seized by the law enforcement officers as evidence. On the basis of the court decision, police made control purchases of drugs from persons arrested on charges of illegal selling of drugs several times and secretly audio-video recorded the process.
The following persons were arrested for illegal selling of a large and particularly large amount of narcotic drugs, as well as the illegal selling of the narcotic drug "marijuana" and psychotropic substances, the preparation of selling and the attempted selling of drugs - N.R. (DoB 2004), V.B. (DoB 1987) T.M. (DoB 1987) N.T. (DoB 2001), T.P. (DoB 2003), G.Z. (DoB 2003), D.A. (DoB 1988), Sh.B, (DoB 2002) and previously convicted : S.B. (DoB 2002) and G.M. (DoB 1990).
Citizens of foreign countries: M.Sh. (DoB 1973), G.I. (DoB 1998), L.G. (DoB 1988) and D.P. (DoB 1993).
The following persons were arrested for illegal import and export of large and especially large amounts of narcotic drugs, illegal purchase and storage, as well as illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drug "marijuana", selling, attempted selling, and illegal cultivation of a plant containing a narcotic drug: S.A. (DoB 1988), R. B (DoB 1992) G.R. (DoB 1960) N.A (DoB 1975), LB (DoB 2001) R.K (DoB 1995), G.P (DoB 1954), and previously convicted Z.B. (DoB 1975).
Citizens of foreign countries: I.K., (DoB 1994), A.Z., (DoB 1968), H.R. (DoB 1968), H.G., (DoB 1986).
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
During the personal search and search activities held in residential places of the persons arrested on charges of drug-related crimes, the law enforcement officers also seized a large amount of narcotics, including: "heroin", "cocaine", "buprenorphine", "morphine", "thebaine" from various locations indicated by them as well as "codeine," "methadone," "alpha pvp," "mephedrone," "clephedrone," "methamphetamine," "lyrica," and "marijuana."
The police also seized a large amount of money and electronic scales from the defendants as evidence.
The facts are being investigated under articles 260, 18-260, 19-260, 261, 262, 265, 273 and 19-273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
