The officers of Gldani-Nadzaladevi Police Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs , as a result of intensive operative-investigative activities, in active cooperation with the Embassy of the United States to Georgia, arrested S.F. (DoB 1990) in Tbilisi on the charges of large-scale fraud.
The committed crime envisions from 6 to 9 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that the accused woman promised citizens of Georgia - M.Sh. and J.G. that they would travel to the United States, would be employed, provided with place of residence and flight tickets in return for certain amount of cash.
The accused person took passports and cash of the mentioned citizens on the grounds that she would use passport data to fill US visa applications, however after receiving the money she did not fulfill the terms of agreement. As a result of the committed criminal act, she illegally appropriated a total of 15 168 GEL.
Within the frames of the ongoing investigation, S.F. who didn’t appear at the investigative agency, was charged in absentia under Article 180, Part III, Subparagraph “B” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (fraud committed in large amounts). According to the decision of the court she was sentenced to preliminary imprisonment. Law enforcement officers arrested the woman as a defendant and transferred her to the penitentiary facility.
In addition to the mentioned fact, the investigation also established that S.F. committed several other cases of fraud in 2021, which are being investigated by Isani-Samgori Police Main Division and Old Tbilisi Police Main Division under Tbilisi Police Department as well as by Zugdidi District Division under Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department.
Investigation on the facts of fraud is in progress under Article 180 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
