The officers of the Main Division for Combating Organized Crime under the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, detained 5 people in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Zestaponi and Terjola as a result of complex investigative and operative measures carried out together with the General Prosecutor's Office.
The following people have been arrested on charges of membership of the "Thieves 'World" and contacting a member of the "Thieves' World". The detainees are as follows: I.M. (DoB 1982), G.G. (DoB1975, Nicknamed "Gadabmuli"), K.Z.(DoB 1978), Sh.K. (DoB 1984) and G.S. (DoB 1966);
The committed crime envisions 7 to 10 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that due to financial disputes, the disputing parties contacted the members of the "thieves' world" to resolve the existing argument- I.M. G.G. and K.J. who in their turn, contacted Georgian “Thieve in Law” residing abroad.
After the mentioned, the members of "Thieves' World" together with the disputing parties held several meetings to resolve the financial dispute in a pre-rented apartment in Tbilisi, as well as in the office of one of the disputing parties. At the meetings, members of the "thieves' world" listened to the opposing parties and instructed them to pay each other objectively defined shares of the disputed money - GEL 50,000 - and also asked both parties to send some money in the funds of the "thieves in law" involved in the dispute. The disputing parties could not agree on their shares, after which the members of the "thieves 'world" forced them to come to Greece with the "thieves in law", who would make a final decision on the basis of a thieves' dispute.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of membership of the "Thieves 'World" and contacting to the members of the "Thieves' World" under Article 223(1), Part I and Article 223(4), Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
