Briefing of Mamuka Tchelidze-Director of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs
The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 6 persons for the membership of the so called “Criminal World” and contacting the member of the “Criminal World”.
As a result of joint, complex activities simultaneously held in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi and Kobuleti, the employees of Central Criminal Police Department along with General Prosecutor’s office, on the basis of the respective court decision detained the following persons: M.M. (DoB 1964), S.B. (DoB 1981), Z.B. (DoB 1977), D.M. (DoB 1970), N.Sh. (DoB 1977) and B.Ch. (DoB 1990).
Detainees are accused of membership of the so called “Criminal World” and contacting the member of the “Criminal World”.
The committed crimes mentioned above envisage from 3 to 10 years of imprisonment.
All of the accused persons were taken under arrest by the law enforcers in their places of residence.
Investigation established that in order to solve the financial dispute, detainees contacted members of the so called “Criminal World” and the so called “Thief in Law” – Nikoloz Purtskhvanidze, nicknamed “Burdgunicha”, who is residing abroad.
The members of the “Criminal World”, representing the opposing sides, held the so called “Criminal Skirmish” through the mobile phones; as a result one of the sides was charged to pay 8,700 EU in favor of the other side within one month.
Due to the permanent pressure from the members of the “Criminal World” N.Sh. and D.M. were forced to transfer money to the accounts of the accused persons.
As a result of the search activities, police seized computer technic and mobile phones, by means of which detainees contacted each other and Georgian “Thief in Law” abroad.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of membership of the “Criminal World” and contacting the member of the “Criminal World”, article 2231, I part and article 2234 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
