Negotiations related to the Agreement on “Operational and Strategic Cooperation between Georgian and European Police Services” was held in Europol headquarter, Hague.
The negotiations were participated by Mr. Ivane Papiashvili, the Director of the Central Criminal Police Department of the MIA, Mr. Shalva Kvinikhidze, the Director of the International Relations Department of the MIA and other officials.
Positive report on Georgia, approved and adopted by the Europol Joint Supervisory Authority in December, 2015 gave the parties an opportunity to start negotiations in order to coordinate the text of the agreement on cooperation.
Upon effectiveness of the Agreement Georgia shall dispatch its liaison officer to the Europol headquarters and start cooperation on operational and non-operational level. The Agreement shall significantly expand the opportunities for international cooperation with the EU Member States’ law enforcement authorities. The Agreement is scheduled to be signed this year.
