Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze and Chief of Border Police, genera-major Zurab Gamezardashvili have solemnly opened “Akhkerpi” building of Border Police third division-sector four. The mentioned sector if located on Georgian-Armenian state border. The border sector was also viewed by the local citizens and positively assessed newly constructed infrastructure.
Improving work conditions for the protectors of the state border is among top priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is notable that from February of 2014 border guards’ salaries have substantially increased. In 2014 Border Police was additionally funded for building new border sectors on Georgian-Russian, Georgian-Azerbaijan and Georgina-Armenian state borders.
On Georgian-Russian state border three border sectors were built, while 2 were built on Georgian-Azerbaijan state border. On Georgian-Armenian state border three sectors have been built and one more was built on Georgian-Turkish state border. By the end of the current year construction works of 6 more border sectors will be initiated.
