Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze awarded 28 employees of the Central Criminal Police Department for participating in successful operation regarding the fact of hostage-taking. Minister awarded police officers with firearms and granted with preterm ranks.
As a result of operative-investigative activities law enforcers detained former employee of MIA Constitutional Security Department Durmishkhan Ghvachliani (DoB 1962), former employee of MIA Special Operative Department Jemal Shonia (DoB 1977) Aleksanadre Tchanturia (DoB 1983 and Giorgi Kaldanai (DoB 19780).
On October 10 Je,al Shonia and Giorgi Kaldani penetrated the house of GIorkhelidzed by deception and illegally restricted freedom of Ioseb Giorkhelidze under the pressure of firearms. The mentioned persons contacted Ramin Giorkhelidze the same day and demanded 300 000 US dollars for releasing his son. Ramin Giorkhelidze contacted police regarding the mentioned fact.
As a result of operative-investigative activities Jemal Shonia and Aleksandre Tchanturia were detained on October 12 in Tbilisi while Durmishkhan Ghvarchliani was detained in Tskhneti settlement on October 13 as well as Giorgi Kaldani in Armazi village. Police seized 300 000 US dollars as well as drugs and firearms in the houses owned by the mentioned persons.
