On June 2-5 “World Congress on CBRN Science and Consequence Management” is being held in “Radisson Blu Iveria” hotel.
Considering innovative and new approach and policy of MIA in connection with chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazards, this year world congress is being held in Georgia for the first time and hosted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. International congress is held annually for 20 years already in Croatia or Switzerland, which is attended by representatives of more than 250 countries.
Honorable director of the congress is Prime-Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili who is the initiator of elaborating joint approach to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazards. Congress was opened by the Minister of Internal Affairs Alekandre Tchikaidze. Speeches were also delivered by the Ministers of Heal and Social Assistance, Environment Protection and Natural Resources, Deputy Minister of Defense and Foreign Affairs, US Ambassador Richard Norland, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs Andrew Webber, Director General of the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Ahmet Uzumcu and executive director of the congress Step Stinstra.
Congress is dedicated to the non-spreading of CBRN substances, handling CBRN incident results, CBRN safety other issues. The congress is an opportunity to share Georgia’s experience in the field of CBRN incidents and establish close co-operation with scientists and decision makers from various countries
Congress is attended by members of Georgian Government, representatives of executive branch, top officials from the US defense sphere, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited to Georgia and CBRN experts from 38 countries. Within the frames of the congress joint training is being planned by Richard Lugar health center and US European Command.
