The First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Kakhaber Sabanadze participated in the 6th EU-Georgia Association Committee. During the online meeting, priorities envisaged by the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and Association Agenda were discussed.
During the meeting, Kakhaber Sabanadze discussed the measures undertaken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the successful functioning of the visa-free regime with the EU. The First Deputy Minister underlined the steps undertaken in the areas of border control, fight against organised crime and effective implementation of the Readmission Agreement.
During the online meeting, the political and practical importance of the visa-free regime was highlighted. Moreover, the EU positively assessed Georgia’s readiness to take relevant measures for ensuring successful continuation of the visa-free regime.
On behalf of the EU, Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, Regional Cooperation and OSCE Directorate of the European External Action Service (EEAS) - Luc Devigne; the Head of the EU Delegation - Carl Hartzell and other representatives of the European Commission attended the meeting.
From the Georgian side, the meeting was moderated by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vakhtang Makharoblishvili.
The meeting was also attended by the high-level representatives of various State agencies.
