Within the frames of the visit to Strasburg, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Nino Tsatsiashvili held meetings with high officials from the Council of Europe. Nino Tsatsiashvili familiarized representatives them on the ongoing reforms implemented within the Ministry, achieved progress, future plans and challenges faced by the Agency. At the meetings special emphasis was made on progress achieved in the investigation of domestic violence, gender-based violence, discriminatory crimes and activities implemented for improving environment in terms of the human rights protection at temporary detention isolators.
Within the frames of the three-day work visit, Deputy Minister also held meeting with Human Rights Commissioner, Director General of Human Rights and Rule of Law, Head of Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, Secretary of the Venice Commission and Head of Criminal Justice and Anti-Terrorism Division.
Nino Tsatsiashvili also met with the head of Department of Democracy and Governance, head of Information Society and Action against Crime Directorate, Secretary of Gender Equality Commission and representative of Anti-discrimination Directorate.
The Council of Europe representatives welcomed the ongoing reforms in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the progress achieved and expressed their readiness for further cooperation and support.
