Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Nino Tsatsiashvili attended the opening ceremony of the Criminal Justice Conference and addressed the gathered participants with a speech.
Nino Tsatsiashvili touched upon the issue of implemented on ongoing reforms at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the newly formed Human Rights Protection and Investigation Quality Monitoring Department, which is responsible for the quality of the investigation process.
In addition to the mentioned, Deputy Minister made a special emphasis on structural changes planned to be held at the Ministry, within the frames of which a specialized division will be created under Tbilisi Police Department, focusing on juvenile crime or crimes committed against them.
Two-day conference – “Return to Society after Committing the Crime- Offender Journey” is being held in a round table format on the issues of criminal justice.
The conference is aimed to discuss stages that the offenders are undergoing in the process of returning to the civil society.
The opening ceremony was also attended by EU ambassador, representatives of the Georgian legislative, executive and judicial bodies, special representatives of Penitentiary Service, National Probation Agency, Training Center of Justice, diplomatic corps, international and local partner organizations.
The conference was held within the frames of EU project-“Justice Reform Contribution Projects”.
