Representatives of different units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia participated in an inter-agency training on Emergency Response and Planning organized by the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).
Closing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs - Giorgi Butkhuzi, the US Ambassador to Georgia - Kelly Degnan and the Deputy Head of the State Security Service- Giga Nikoleishvili, who addressed the participants with speeches and awarded certificates.
In addition to the staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of the Ministries of Defense, Justice, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, as well as the State Security Service and the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance took part in the training.
Five day course aimed at refining inter-agency coordination mechanisms during emergencies and sharing US experience regarding incident response, risk evaluation and related procedures. The training was led by American experts invited by the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA).
During the training, participants discussed such important issues, as: organizational models of emergency management; large-scale incident management and operations planning; improving inter-agency coordination, etc.
