Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, participated in the conference dedicated to the 2022-2024 National Action Plan for Women, Peace and Security of Georgia and addressed the invited guests.
Chairman of the Permanent Parliamentary Council for Gender Equality - Nino Tsilosani, State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality - Tea Akhvlediani, the First Deputy Minister of Defence of Georgia - Lela Chikovani, Adviser to the Prime Minister of Georgia on Human Rights - Niko Tatulashvili, United nations Resident Coordinator in Georgia - Sabine Machl, the Ambassador of Great Britain to Georgia - Mark Clayton and NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security - Irene Fellin delivered the opening remarks.
Aleksandre Darakhvelidze noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs is involved in the prosecution of the national action plan for the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution №1325 on Women, Peace and Security and has a number of obligations, that contribute to the strengthening of gender equality and the role of women.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized on the support provided to the Ministry by the UN Women, as a result of which a number of important activities were carried out in order to train and strengthen the capacities of the employees in the Ministry.
The conference was held with the support of the Administration of the Government of Georgia, the government of Great British and UN Women.
