Deputy Ministers of Internal Affairs- Kakhaber Sabanadze, Vladimer Bortsvadze and Nino Tsatsiashvili held an informational meeting with the representatives of Diplomatic Corps accredited in Georgia as well as with international observing missions on the pre-election period.
During the meeting, it was underlined that the Ministry is ready to ensure the conduction of Parliamentary elections on October 31 in a free, secure and peaceful environment.
Deputy Ministers familiarized representatives of Diplomatic Corps and international observing missions with the order issued by the Minister of Internal Affairs regarding parliamentary elections.
According to new amendment of the order, the updated instruction/guidelines have been adopted for employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, which is mandatory to entire personnel of the Agency. The instruction for the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is in full compliance with the election legislation of Georgia and regulates the issues, such as: ensuring political neutrality of the Ministry, ensuring the observance of order during election campaign, as well as during the election day inside the polling station and adjacent territories.
Deputy Ministers noted that, considering the existing epidemiological situation, in order to ensure the conduction of elections in safe environment, recommendations for the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were elaborated related to the New Corona Virus, along with Labor Conditions Inspection Department under the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia.
Deputy Ministers provided representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia and observing missions with the information related to the incidents that took place during the pre-election period and Ministry’s immediate responses to the mentioned facts. Deputy Ministers expressed readiness to proactively share information with representatives of the diplomatic corps and observing missions regarding the possible violations during the election period and activities held by police in in this regard.
