Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Ioseb Chelidze attended the event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of partnership existing between Georgian Guard and the US state of Georgia National Guard.
In his speech Ioseb Chelidze expressed gratitude towards the US partners on behalf of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the support in the field of civil security and active cooperation, which is important for making rapid and effective response on emergencies and for ensuring safety of civilians.
“We greatly appreciate the support of the US government in both, material and technical assistance as well as in capacity building direction. Support of the partner states and sharing best practices is significantly important for Euro-Atlantic integration process. I am deeply sure that cooperation between our countries will be as fruitful and interesting in the future, as it is now”, - stated Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Ioseb Chelidze.
In connection with the anniversary the event was attended by Major General Thomas M. Carden, commander of the US Georgia Army National Guard, Acting US Ambassador Elizabeth Rood, representatives of the National Guard of the Georgia Defense Forces, European Command, Office of Defense Cooperation at the US Embassy, as well as top officials of the Emergency Situations Management Service, Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia and State Office of Veterans’ Affairs. Guests were hosted by the Minister of Defense of Georgia- Irakli Garibashvili.
