Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Nino Javakhadze and Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States to Georgia, Elizabeth Rood attended the closing ceremony of training dedicated to the fight against domestic violence.
“With the assistance of the US Department of State`s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) our law enforcers have undergone training, which was aimed at raising their awareness on the fight against domestic violence. This is a very sensitive topic and one of the main priorities for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Within the frames of this program, 24 patrol and district police officers have undergone re-training course. We would like to thank the government of the United States for the cooperation,”- stated Nino Javakhadze.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Nino Javakhadze and Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States to Georgia, Elizabeth Rood handed out relevant certificates to the participants of the training.
The training was organized by the US Department of State`s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). American experts re-trained employees of Tbilisi and regional Police Departments as well as patrol officers on the topics of the fight against domestic violence.
The training was aimed to improve methods of the fight against domestic violence and adequate response on such cases and to increase the qualification of law enforcers in this regard.
