Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimer Bortsvadze met with the Executive Secretary of the Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe - Dennis Huber and the Head of the Council of Europe Office - Cristian Urse.
During the meeting, Vladimer Bortsvadze emphasized the fruitful cooperation existing between the Council of Europe Office, the Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs spoke about the consistent drug policy implemented by Georgia, the innovations implemented in the Ministry for fighting against drug crime and the large amount of narcotics and psychotropic substances seized from illegal circulation by the Ministry in 2019.
The parties discussed the importance of Georgia's Chairmanship of the Council of Europe, the country’s perspectives of joining the Pompidou Group, and future cooperation with the Pompidou Group with the aim of capacity building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Vladimer Bortsvadze expressed his gratitude towards the Council of Europe side for ensuring the participation of the Ministry’s employees in the various training courses and meetings organized by the Pompidou Group.
