Today, a foreign delegation paid a visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia for the purpose of discussing HIV, HCV, innovative financing opportunities, drug-related legislation and harm reduction programs and supporting further reforms.
Within the frames of the visit Minister of Internal Affairs held meeting with the members of delegation. The meeting was attended by the Former President of Switzerland - Ruth Dreifuss, former Director of the Global Fund and currently UN Special Envoy on HIV/AIDS – Michel Kazatchkine, former Chief of Seattle Police Department, USA – Jim Pugel and the Director of International Harm Reduction Development Program (OSF) – Daniel Wolfe.
During the meeting the parties discussed significant reforms implemented by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in last several months related to the fight against drug abuse. Representatives of delegation expressed support for continuing reforms in this direction.
