Mr. Teimuraz Kekelidze - the Head of the Border Police visited the border sectors "Truso" and "Dariali" on the occasion of the Border Guards Day.
Mr. Teimuraz Kekelidze congratulated the border guards in the mentioned sector on their professional day and thanked for their service in protection the state border of our country.
“The responsibility of the border service is very great, this profession is very respectful, because it is one of the most important components of national security. Therefore, I would like to thank each border guard who fulfills his/her duties in the country's service” – Mr. Teimuraz Kekelidze said. According to him, the border agency is undergoing a reform process, the main directions of which are education and development, further improvement of the career system of the personal staff, improvement of their working conditions and implementation of infrastructure and logistics projects on the border.
"It is planned to modernize about 4 sectors from the infrastructural point of view this year. Also, it is very important to modernize technology to maximize the coverage of the border. For all this we are actively cooperating with the domestic agencies involved in border protection, as well as with international partners in order to share experience, develop our cooperation and and attract resources” - the Head of the Border Police declared.
Mr. Teimuraz Kekelidze awarded three border guards in the "Truso" sector and 8 border guards in the "Dariali" sector with the breastplates and the Certificates of Appreciation of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The youngest among the awarded border guards – Gela Chabakauri, 21 years old - has been working as a border guard since December, 2015. At the same time, Gela Chabakauri is studying at the faculty of Transportation and Mechanical Engineering at Georgian Technical University, specializing in business organizing management.
On March 21, this year the Ministry of Internal Affairs celebrated 19th Professional Day of Border Guard. The Border Guard Professional Day is celebrated since 1999.
