The TCG YILDIRIM F-243 ship of the Republic of Turkey's military and naval forces entered the territorial waters of Georgia. The ship's crew members were met by the Director of the Coast Guard Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Captain Ramaz Papidze, the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Tornike Rizhvadze, and the Mayor of Batumi, Archil Chikovani.
Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia Ali Kaan Orbay, Consul General in Batumi Riza Kagan Yilmaz, Military Attach of Turkey, Colonel Ilhan Oktendural, Director of Maritime Transport Agency Alexi Akhvledian and other officials attended the event.
The purpose of the visit is to conduct a second level self-assessment (SEL-2) of the vessels "Ochamchire" and "Dioskuria" of the Coast Guard Department of the Border Police of Georgia within the framework of the NATO Operational Capability Concept Assessment and Feedback Program. The mentioned process is carried out with the support of representatives (evaluators) from the command of the Georgian and "NATO" military and naval forces.
Within the framework of the visit, the leadership of the Coast Guard Department will meet with the command of the Turkish ship. An official reception will be held on board the Turkish ship. Also, various cultural events are planned for crew members.
The Turkish ship will leave Batumi harbor on March 10.
