The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the operative-search measures and investigative activities carried out in recent period, seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi and the regions of the country - 20 people were arrested, criminal prosecution was launched against 4 people, and 2 were exposed.
Employees of the patrol police department, on the fact of carrying firearms, JB, born in 1988. They were arrested in Tbilisi.
Patrol inspectors, stopped J.B for verification while driving. During the search of his vehicle, law enforcement officers seized firearms and cartridges as evidence.
As a result of operational measures and investigative activities carried out at different times, the employees of Detectives Main Division and the Main Investigation Division of Tbilisi Police Department arrested 2 persons - Z.A. (DoB 1984) and previously convicted A.N. (DoB 1977). During the search activities held in defendants’ residential places, law enforcement officers seized 2 pistols, 2 cartridges and 7 magazines as evidence.
Employees of Vake-Saburtalo main division of Tbilisi Police Department arrested 2 persons: Sh.K. (DoB 1980) and L. Ch. (DoB 1986) at different times. As a result of their personal search, law enforcement officers seized 2 firearms, 2 cartridges and 13 magazines as evidence.
The employees of the main division of Vake-Saburtalo of the same department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, arrested S.L. (DoB 1952) for illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms and ammunition.
As a result of the search of the accused's residential place and storage facility, the police seized as evidence: 523 magazines for different types of firearms, a silencer, 5 explosive fuses, a cartridge, TNT, a capsule-detonator and a signal pistol.
The employees of Didube-Chugureti Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times, arrested O.M. (DoB 1981) and G.G. (DoB 1959).
On the basis of the court decision, the law enforcement officers, during the search of the residences of the detainees, seized a revolver, a pistol, 13 magazines and 1 cartridge.
Employees of Sagarejo regional division of Kakheti Police Department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions conducted at different times, arrested 2 persons. The police, during the search of the residential places and storages of previously convicted and currently on probation - T.G. (DoB 1988), seized firearms, 2 hunting rifles and 44 magazines as evidence. 2 hunting rifles and 2 hand grenades were recovered as a result of the search of the house and storage of S.A. (DoB 1974).
The employees of Kutaisi Division of Imereti Police Department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, detained L.K., (DoB 1949). During the personal search and search activities held in detainee’s vehicle, the law enforcement officers detected a pistol, a cartridge and 64 magazines as evidence.
As a result of operational measures and investigative activities carried out at different times, the employees of Tsalenjikha, Chkhorotsku, Mestia and Poti police divisions of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department, 4 persons were detained - T.K. (DoB 1960), J.G. (DoB1979), K.K.(DoB 1970) and A.V. (DoB 1988) and exposed 2 persons.
As a result of the search conducted by the law enforcement officers, the following were recovered as evidence: 2 automatic firearms, 3 pistols, 1 revolver, 47 magazines, a hand grenade and a cartridge.
As a result of investigative actions conducted at different times, the employees of the investigation department of Shida Kartli Police Department and Gori district division detained 3 persons – previously convicted and currently on probation L.L. (DoB 1990), S.Ts. (DoB 1969) and Z.P. bo(DoB 1970).
4 firearms, 2 hunting rifles, 3 cartridges, 100 magazines, 2 hand grenades and 3 explosives were seized as a result of the search of the detainees’ vehicle, residential houses and auxiliary storage facilities.
The investigation department of Shida Kartli Police Department, the employees of Khashuri and Kareli district departments launched criminal prosecution against 4 persons: R.C. (DoB 1999) L.C. (DoB 1980), D.G. (DoB 1981) and E.G. (DoB 1960).
During the search of their houses, 2 firearms, a pistol, 2 cartridges, a hand grenade and 282 magazines were recovered.
As a result of jointly held activities by investigation division of Guria Police Department and Ozurgeti police division, V.Kh. (DoB 1973) was detained.
During the search of the house of the accused person, the law enforcement officers seized a revolver and 5 magazines as evidence.
The employees of Lanchkhuti division of the same police department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, detained several times convicted in past M.M. (DoB 1993).
As a result of the personal search of the accused person, the law enforcement officers seized a firearm, a cartridge and 7 magazines as evidence.
The committed crime envisions imprisonment for 3 to 7 years.
The investigation into the facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is being conducted under Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
