The Information Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs presents the statistical data on the visitors having crossed the state border of Georgia during the last month, in particular:
In January-August period, the country was visited by 4 247 729 visitors, which is more by 8.2% than the index of the same period in 2015.
According to the new method of conditional division, the correlation of specific weight in January-August, 2016 is the following:
a) Tourist – 1 851 917 visits (43.6% of general number; increase by 17,4% in comparison with the index of the same period in 2015);
b) Transit – 886 289 visits (20.9% of general number, decrease by -6.2% in comparison with the index of the last year);
c) Other – 1 509 523 visits (35.5% of general number, increase by 7.5% in comparison with the index of the last year).
The number of visitors in August, 2016 amounted to 450003 that is more by 17.3 % than the index of the same period in 2015.
The most of the visits in August, 2016 were paid again from Armenia (+2%), Azerbaijan (-3%), Turkey (-42%), Russia (+12%), Ukraine (+18%) and Iran (+599%); also, positive position is retained by the EU countries: respecting the increase of the number of arrivals to Georgia in January-August the following countries take leading position: Latvia, Italy, Lithuania and UK (relevantly 27%, 10%, 7% and 7%), Central Asian countries - Kazakhstan (34%), among the countries of Easter Europe – Belarus (28%), Middle East – Israel – 59%), and Asian countries - UAE (14%). Also, the number of tourists form the United States of America has also increased by 11 %.
