Informational-Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to publish monthly results and presents statistic data on foreign visitors entering Georgia for March, 2014. In the last month of 2014, 392 725 visitors crossed Georgian State border. To compare recent results with the same period of the previous year the number of visitors has increased by 8%. As for the January-March interval 1 006 267 visitors crossed Georgian state border which is more by 7,6% in comparison with the same period of the previous year.
In accordance with recently activated gradation scale the results are as follows:
A) Tourist - 374 382 visits (increase of the total number has reached 37,2%, to compare recent results with the previous year, when the number of visitors has increased by 10,1%);
B) Transit - 175 805 visits (increase of the total number has reached 17,5%, to compare recent results with the previous year when the number of visitors has increased by 39%);
C) Other - 456 080 visits (increase of the total number has reached 45,3%, to compare recent results with the previous year when the number of visitors has increased by -3%);
In March of 2014 the most number of visitors has crossed Georgian state border from Turkey (- 26%) Azerbaijan (+39,9%) Armenia (+30,7%) Russian Federation (+38,8%) Ukraine (+38,5%) and Iran (-43,9%). Similar positive tendency is preserved in connection with countries of European Union, where the number of tourists from Poland, Netherlands, Lithuania and Italy has substantially increased, reaching 147%, 26%, 24% and 21% respectively. Number of tourists from middle Asia, namely from Kazakhstan has increased by 25%, while the number of tourists from Eastern Europe, namely from Belarus and Moldova has also increased by 40% and 27%.
