In compliance with the Article 24 of the Law of Georgia on Police the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the purpose of crime prevention and public order carried out special police control throughout the country.
As a result of police control carried out on March 23-26, 2016 by the Central Criminal Police Department and territorial units of MIA 2 wanted persons were detained.
192 criminal cases were revealed, among them:
- illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms (Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 67 cases;
- illegal purchase and keeping of drugs (Article 60 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 29 cases;
- illegal import of drugs to Georgia (Article 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 8 cases;
- robbery (Article 178 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) –2 cases;
The law enforcers revealed 966 administrative offences among them:
- illegal use of drugs (Article 45 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 77 cases;
- minor hooliganism (Article 166 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 28 cases;
- disobedience/hooliganism (Articles 166 and 173 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 34 cases.
As a result of the police control the law enforcers seized firearms and ammunition: 8 rifles, 8 pistols, 4 revolvers, 4 grenade launchers, 6 rifles, 9 cut guns, 3 small-caliber rifles, 50 grenades, 6 shells, 3 anti-personnel mines, 3 smoke arms, 7 explosive primers, 8 electric detonators, 1 capsular detonator, 2.1 kg of explosive substance TNT and 4540 cartridges of various caliber.
Also deleted: 9 packages and 0.8345 gr of heroin, 1.5 gr. of buprenorphine, 10 packages and 39 pills of "suboxine", 45 pills of "codeine", 8 packages of marijuana, 39 packages and 450 gr. of new psychoactive substance - so called "bio", 250 pills of "Actifed", 361 pills of various psychotropic drugs, 8 syringes prepared for injection containing drug and 1 root of cannabis.
Accordingly, 59 individuals were detained for criminal offences and 148 individuals were detained for administrative offences.
