The officers of the Detectives Division of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of complex operative and investigative activities, detained 2 persons for illegal purchase and storage of drugs in especially large quantities and smuggling of firearms and ammunition into Georgia. The detainees are: D.K. (DoB1978) and K.T. (DoB 1970).
The committed crime envisions from 7 to 20 years or lifetime imprisonment.
Police seized drugs in especially large quantities, 2 pistols and cartridges as a result of personal search and search activities held in their residential venues and vehicles.
As a result of the search of a car brought from Europe by D.K. 3715 pills of "Subutex" were seized, and during the search of K.T.'s house, the police seized 2 pills of drug and several pieces of the same substance as well as 2 pistols and 57 cartridges as evidence.
Investigation into the facts of illegal purchase and storage of drugs in especially large quantities and illegal import into Georgia, as well as illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition, is in progress under Article 260, Part III, Subparagraph “A”, part VI of the same article, sub-paragraph “A”, Article 262, part IV and Article 236 part III of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
