The Forensic-Criminalistic Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia was handed over the Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry System (GC-MS) within the framework of the EU SAFE Program, in partnership with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).
The handover ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Giorgi Butkhuzi and the Head of the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Georgia, Sigrid Brettel and other relevant dignitaries from the Ministry, the EU Delegation to Georgia and UNOPS.
The guests toured the main laboratory of FCD’s Forensic Instrumental Analysis Unit and got acquainted with the specifics of conducting test samples using a gas chromatograph / mass spectrometer (GC-MS) system to identify various substances.
The new GS-MS System allows results to be prepared in a short period of time, which will significantly improve the Ministry’s technical capacities for speedy and quality forensic examinations.
