Ministry of Internal Affairs detained L.Z. (DoB 1989) for the assault on one of the branches of microfinance organization located on Tsereteli Avenue, Tbilisi, taking several people as hostages as well as for illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearm.
Today, an armed person broke into one of the branches of the microfinance organization located on Akaki Tsereteli Avenue, Tbilisi and took 17 people as hostages.
Relevant police units were immediately mobilized on the spot and operative-investigative measures had been initiated.
As a result of several hours of negotiations between the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the assailant, the accused person gradually released the hostages. No one was injured in the course of the incident.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of taking two of more people as hostages and illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearm, article 144, II part, sub-paragraph “C” and article 236, III and IV parts envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
