The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the operational measures and investigative activities carried out in the recent period, seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi and the regions - 8 persons were arrested.
The employees of the Central Criminal Police Department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, detained N.N (DoB 1989) and K.M. (DoB 1985). During the search of the vehicle, the law enforcement officers seized an automatic firearm, a pistol, 4 magazines and 32 cartridges as evidence.
Employees of Tbilisi Police Department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, arrested G.R., (DoB 2006) in Tbilisi. During his personal search, the law enforcement officers seized a firearm of "Makarov" system, a magazine and 6 cartridges as evidence.
Employees of Vake-Saburtalo main division of Tbilisi Police Department, detained convicted in the past and currently under probation O.O. (DoB 1995). As a result of a personal search of G.K. police seized a firearm, a magazine and 16 cartridges as evidence.
Employees of Lagodekhi District Division of Kakheti Police Department, detained G.K. (DoB 1964). During the search of residence and auxiliary storeroom, the law enforcement officers seized an automatic firearm, a magazine and 13 cartridges as evidence.
As a result of operational measures and investigative activities carried out at different times, the employees of Tskaltubo and Vani police divisions of Imereti Police Department arrested 2 persons - Sh.L., (DoB 1987) and convicted in the past and currently on probation G.G. (DoB 1985). The law enforcement officers seized as evidence: 2 small-caliber rifles, a pistol, a magazine and 5 cartridges.
Employees of Kutaisi regional division of the same department detained N.T. (DoB 1982). As a result of the search of his house, the police seized a pistol as evidence.
The crime is punishable by 3 to 11 years of imprisonment.
The investigation into the facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is being conducted under the 3rd, 4th and 6th parts of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
