The employees of Dmanisi District Division of Kvemo Kartli Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of immediate operative measures and investigative activities, arrested Sh.A. (DoB 1980) for forcing a family member to marriage and incitement to commit suicide.
The committed crime envisions up to 6 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that the accused person forced his daughter – S.A. (DoB 2002), to marry against her will, due to which the young woman tried to commit suicide. S.A. was given appropriate medical care and her life is not in danger.
Law enforcement officers, as a result of relevant investigative and procedural activities, detained Sh. A. upon receiving the notification.
The investigation into the fact of forcing a family member to marry and incitement to commit suicide based on gender is being investigated under Article 11(1) -150 and 11 (1)-115, Part II, Sub-paragraph "A" of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
