Emergency Situations Management Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has been conducting rescue operation throughout the night in order to rescue citizens and their transport, caught in the heavy snowing and blizzard on central highway, leading to Georgian-Armenian state border/
Due to the situation Akhalkalaki, Aspindza and Samtskhe-Javakheti Regional Units were mobilized along with Ninotsminda rescuers unit. Additional units were deployed from Tbilisi as well with special equipment.
As a result of rescue operation coordinated by Emergency Situations Management Department rescuers managed to drag out up to 100 vehicles from the snow mass.
Rescue teams continue their works even now. Rescue operations are hindered by the weather condidtion.
