The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on the basis of the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons", ensured the arrest and deportation of 42 foreign citizens within the last two months. Some of the arrested persons left Georgia voluntarily, while others were deported from the country as a result of measures taken by the Migration Department.
On the basis of the Law of Georgia "On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons", the citizens of the Republic of Iraq, Islamic Republic of Iran, People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Armenia, Russian Federation, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Arab Republic of Egypt and other foreign countries were deported from the country, 42 individuals in total.
Among the deported persons are 8 under aged citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who entered Georgia, stayed in the country without a legal basis and were involved in various anti-social activities.
The Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the body responsible for the fight against illegal migration within the country. Its main competence includes the identification of foreign citizens in Georgia without a legal basis and their deportation from the country.
