Firemen and rescuers of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, safely transported three climbers to Mestia from the peak Shkhelda to Mestia with the help of the border police helicopter.
According to climbers, one of the members of their group on the summit probably died as a result of the fall of the rock. Due to the poor meteorological conditions, the remaining three people were unable to continue their route independently and the help of the rescue team was requested.
As soon as the notification was received, a rescue operation was organized, in which the helicopter of the border police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and fire-rescuers of the main division of response to special situations of the emergency situations management service, Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti fire-rescue department were involved.
The search for the body of the climber who died as a result of the accident is being conducted intensively.
