The Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues intensive work in Western Georgia due to heavy snowfall.
Rescue operations were in progress throughout the night. Firefighters transported citizens from various villages to safe places, and along with the defense forces, provided some of the population with necessary medicines and food products.
The head of Emergency Situations Management Service arrived in Guria region. Temur Mghebrishvili commented on the ongoing rescue operation with the media. According to him, except for the Guria region, rescuers are mobilized in all regions where there is heavy snowfall.
“An emergency meeting was held with the participation of the Prime Minister. Tasks were scheduled, an action plan was developed, therefore, priority is given to those locations that were cut off from the outside world. We have switched to an emergency and enhanced regime, and the Emergency Management Service is fully mobilized in Guria, Imereti and Adjara, and the work process is underway,” - noted Temur Mghebrishvili.
Up to 600 firefighters of Emergency Situations Management Service continue to work in coordination with all relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and representatives of other agencies.
