All relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have been working intensively for the third day in western Georgia due to heavy snowfall.
Up to 600 firefighters and dozens of special equipment from the Emergency Situations Management Service are involved in the rescue operations, including snow blowers.
Firefighters have so far provided assistance to dozens of people in difficult weather conditions and transported elderly people, children and people in need of medical assistance from various villages in Adjara and Guria to a safe place.
Vehicles stuck in snow and ice, unable to move due to heavy snowfall and worsening weather, have also been taken to a safe place.
Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs respond to messages received by the Public Safety Command Center “112” gradually.
Patrol police and criminal police officers, together with relevant services of different agencies, are mobilized on both central highways and internal state roads in order to ensure the safe and smooth movement of vehicles and passengers. All relevant units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continue to work intensively together with other relevant agencies.
